If you know me, you know it ain't no secret that I absolutely love lavender. Lavender has incredible benefits for your mind, body and soul. Since finding my new love for essential oils, lavender has become my go-to oil for almost everything and anything. Lavender has incredible benefits for your mind, body and soul. Lavender has been used and cherished for centuries for its unmistakable aroma and myriad benefits. In ancient times, the Egyptians and Romans used Lavender for bathing, relaxation, cooking, and as a perfume.
Lavender has many versatile benefits. I'm going share some of my favourites ways I use my lavender oil everyday.
1. Lavender helps me to relax
I love rubbing my Lavender oil on wrists, my temples and the back of my neck after I have a shower. It helps me really find my own calm especially before getting into bed at night. Sometimes I can find it hard to "switch off" after a night shift so Lavender helps me let my body know it is time to rest.
2. Lavender as a perfume
Recently I have been thinking more about what I use on my skin and spray on my body. A few weekends ago I was rushing out of the house and realised i had totally forgotten to spray myself with perfume which I usually do everyday. I opened up my bag and saw my Lavender oil and thought "I'll just use this". I rubbed on my wrists and chest and it is now what I often use as a perfume these days. It's nice knowing that what I am using is natural and better for the body and environment.
3. Lavender in my bath with bubbles
I am such a bath lover! It is one of my most favourite things to do and it is made better these days with a few drops of lavender oil. It's so good and it's just a little touch of turning your bathroom into a private spa session. Grab the wine, put some tunes on, light up the candles and give yourself some much needed loving with a lavender bath.
4. Yoga and Lavender
As a new Yoga Teacher, I have slowly started using lavender oil on my students throughout my classes and have found that they really enjoy it. It gives my students a little extra loving when massaging their temples and bodies throughout Savasana. I also use lavender in my home-made Yoga Mat Spray Cleaner. Mixing it with tea tree and witch hazel with water allowing my students and myself to clean our mats with a natural cleaner.
5. Lavender for better sleep
Getting enough sleep can be hard, but a big difference can come from changing your sleep environment. I often spray lavender on my pillows before bed or put a few drops in to my diffuser to create a nice and calm space for sleep.
